Week of September 17th

It was so nice seeing you all at Back to School Night last week! I am confident we are going to have a great year together!

 We are still  getting to know each other and establishing classroom routines and expectations for the upcoming year. 

This is what we will be working on this week. 

 Religion: The first Saint of the month, St. Christopher, has been sent home.  It is due on September 28th.  This week we will be discussing the gifts that God gave us.  There will be a test on Wednesday  September 19th on Chapter 1.

ELA: Our grammar unit will begin with a focus on types of sentences. In writing, we will begin by learning more about the Writing Process, how to utilize our Writing Process resources in the classroom, and introducing descriptive paragraph writing.  The current event template was sent home and the first current event is due on Friday September 14th.

Math
: We will completing and reviewing Chapter 1 - Place Value, Addition and Subtraction to One Million and how to add and subtract numbers up to the hundred thousands and use estimation to check that their sums/differences are reasonable. We will also be reviewing how to write numbers in word form, round to the underlined place, and how to rename numbers  There will be a Math Test Tuesday September 18th.

Social Studies: We will be looking into why history, geography, economics, civics and government and culture and society matter. We will also compare primary and secondary sources.  

Students should have a book to read with them at all times. 

Please be sure to send a note if there is a change in your child's usual dismissal.
